Jaime Michelle Cain has extensive experience serving the legal needs of buyers, sellers, lenders, landlords, owners, and other stakeholders in all facets of real estate transactions.
Ms. Cain assists buyers and sellers through all phases of real estate purchases, refinances, leasing, and construction. She also represents local and regional banks in lender financing, including SBA 7(a) and 504 programs.
In addition, Ms. Cain represents owners, landlords, and investors. She provides Fair Housing training and consultation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Ms. Cain is proficient in commencing and defending summary proceedings on behalf of clients for non-payment and breach of lease. She also defends landlords accused of violating the Fair Housing Act and the New York State Human Rights Law.
Most recently, Ms. Cain has become the coalition leader of Under One Roof, an organization of Upstate New York landlords and property management companies who are urging state lawmakers to address the unintended consequences of the Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019.

The New York State Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (NYSPHADA) is pleased to inform you of an up-coming training opportunity for RAD Project Based Voucher (PBV) Specialist that will be given by Nan McKay Associates and will be held at the White Plains Housing Authority in White Plains, New York.
The RAD Project-Based Voucher Specialist seminar is designed specifically for agencies transitioning their public housing units to the project-based voucher (PBV) program under the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Program. The course begins with an overview of the basics of both RAD and PBV. The differences between tenant-based and project-based vouchers as well as the difference between PBV and RAD PBV are also covered. Staff will leave with an understanding of how to set rents, PBV contracts, eligibility determination and managing the wait list, the basics of inspections, how units are leased, how to organize files and occupancy issues such as annual recertification, income increases and terminations. It has also been up-dated for HOTMA.

Each housing agency or representative must make their own hotel arrangements and identify yourself as part of the New York State Public Housing Group (NYSPHADA) to get the government rate of $146.00 per night for standard rooms. The cut-off date for rooms being held is July 19, 2018.

The New York State Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (NYSPHADA) is pleased to inform you of an up-coming two-day training opportunity for Hearing Officer Training that will be given by Nan McKay Associates and will be held at the White Plains Housing Authority in White Plains, New York.
This training by Nan McKay is essential for hearing officers, members of hearing panels, managers who represent the PHA or Housing Agency in hearings and policy analysts. Upon completion, attendees should have developed and mastered the skills needed to conduct hearings and write decisions with hands-on case studies and best practice strategies. Attendees will be tested and certified upon completion of the training.
This two-day training is essential for hearing officers, members of hearing panels, managers who represent the PHA in hearings, and policy analysts. The training is packed with information, covering all aspects of public housing and Housing Choice Voucher hearings. After getting grounded in the regulations, participants will then examine the PHA policies and grievance procedures that determine how regulations are implemented at the PHA. The seminar will walk participants through coordinating and conducting orderly and fact-based hearings. Commonly heard issues, working with advocacy groups, the 504 coordinator and reasonable accommodation issues will be addressed. This training comes with hands-on practice, where in small groups and individually, participants will read cases and make decisions, citing appropriate regulations and PHA policies.
